  26 miles of off-road leads to an Oasis and  not far from the oasis there was a little squiggle on the topo map  marked “hot spring” that didn’t tell us much.
    I was expecting a sandy  hole in the ground or maybe a galvanized stock tank full of warm water.
   From the photo of the spring at right, you can see that we were more than  pleasantly surprised to find an honest to goodness man-made hot tub. I don’t  know who mortared this masterpiece together but If I had their phone number I’d ask them to come to my house and reproduce this work of art in my yard! An  ingenious drain & overflow using a sink drain doubles as a foot wash. The  tub has drain holes for cleaning and is obviously maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers.  (A group I plan to join!) The water temperature could only be described as “perfect”; about 100 to 103 degrees by my estimate.

Unfortunately, I was ROASTING from having spent 3 hours on the sunny side of the Jeep. Part of me  wanted to hop in the tub very badly but a more sensible part of my brain yelled “Do you want heat stroke you moron?”, so I took a quick dip in the creek instead.    Since locationg this gem, we have returned several times,both to camp or just visit for the day. Despite being fairly remote, the spring gets a suprising amount of traffic. Fortuately, it remains clean and well maintained.
